Leipzig times...
A brief synopsis of the highs and lows of a weekend getting to and from Leipzig.
Saturday was a dream. Despite a real early start from Sheffield, a nice easy trip to the lovely city of Leipzig. Grand hospitality from Toralf, the night's promoter, with tasty goulash and a good German beer in a local pub sat by a real fire. Great to see Tony Wakeford and many other old friends on the night. And the sort of gig that is just so, so good you couldn't ask for more: Beautiful and attentive audience in the Theatre Fabrik, meaning I can play sweet and quiet where necessary, making the lows low and highs even higher; a lovely theatre, packed with people waiting eagerly for all three bands. A great night. Thanks to all; Roy, theatre owner, Toralf for promotion, the excellent sound and lights crew at the theatre, Trio Noir and Rose Rovine e Amanti, and of course everyone who attended and made it special.
By comparison, Sunday was a nightmare. Okay, so I was hung-over with fine German beer and jägermeister shots, but I wasn't quite prepared for a two hour delay at Leipzig Halle, nor the five hour delay at Frankfurt, and the delay circling Manchester. Only to get there to find that the last train of the day to Sheffield was cancelled, and the airline had lost my bag containing loop pedals, my coat and my German mustard. Jo to the rescue, though - she was my saviour, in picking me up :) None of which diminished my enjoyment of an amazing evening on Saturday night. Thank you Leipzig, see you soon :)
